The Wall of Recognition
On May 9, 2002, we unveiled The Wall of Recognition. It is located in the vestibule of the schools main entrance. This wall is designed to recognize the lives of people who have made enduring contributions to the life of Mount Greylock. It celebrates those who have provided vision and direction for the district, and it honors those who made enduring contributions that had significant impact on students, faculty and the life of the school.
While capturing some of the institutions history, the Wall of Recognition also signifies to students, alumni, and all residents of our towns the evolving nature of the school and the value we place on the lives of people whose commitment and giving have special meaning for Mount Greylock.
Two years ago we began soliciting nominations for individuals who deserved inclusion on the Wall of Recognition. We put notices in The Forum and in local newspapers. Then we formed a Selection Committee that was composed of alumni, former teachers, present teachers and administration, and a school committee member.
The Selection Committee reviewed the nominations and chose thirteen individuals to be honored at this recognition ceremony. They chose eight teachers, one custodian, one administrator, and three School Committee members.
As we unveiled the Wall of Recognition on May 9, we noted that it was the inauguration of the Wall, and as such, it was just the beginning. In two years we will honor additional individuals.
With that in mind, as we applaud those who are being honored, we ask you to consider who else should be included on this wall and complete the nomination form. Just click on the nominate link below.
