BRUCE R. CARLSON
School Committee 1960-1970

Bruce R. Carlson originally served on the Williamstown School Committee, and then was elected by it to serve as their representative on the Regional School Committee in February of 1960. That gave Mr. Carlson the opportunity to have an impact on the building of Mt. Greylock Regional High School. He served on the School Committee for ten years, eight of them as Chairman. “Dedication” was the key word describing Mr. Carlson, whose leadership was always in favor of quality education, efficient management and rational economy. His sound guidance, strong commitment to the education of young people, and his high quality leadership were the hallmarks of his service. He was overwhelmed at the idea of naming the school’s library in his honor but felt it was a “single honor” to him, as the library was a very central and important part of a student’s education.
