The curriculum should be aligned not only with state and national standards, but also with the school's expectations for student learning.   Each department should take responsibility for teaching certain expectations from the mission.  Each expectation should be taught in multiple courses so that all students have sufficient opportunities to practice and achieve each expectation by the time the graduate.
