Assessment of Student Learning

Assessment strategies should be varied and linked whenever possible to the school's expectations for student learning.  For example, if the school expects students to think critically, then giving only multiple choice tests would probably not be appropriate.  Instead, teachers might assign essays, debates, or projects which ask students to use clearly delineated criteria (e.g., rubrics) to assess student work, and students should also be engaged in self-assessment.   Ultimately, the school is accountable for knowing where all students are in terms of achieving the school's learning expectations.

In addition, Mt. Greylock should regularly analyze data about student performance from standardized tests, local assessments, and student work and use that information to revise curriculum and adjust instructional practices.
