Concert Review Rubrics

 

A concert review is due each of the first three quarters, and will be worth 10 points of your quarter grade. This Music Department requirement is designed to teach you, through direct observation, good performance practice and to encourage you to take advantage of a wide variety of professional concert hall music (symphonic, choral, chamber music, recital, jazz, concert band) available to you in the Berkshire County area. Please give a copy of your review to EACH of the music teachers whose class you are enrolled in, within one week of the performance. Feel free to see your teacher if you would like help in writing your concert review. Your three concert reviews should be representative of three DIFFERENT genres from the list above. Self assess your paper using these criteria and write your score beside your name:

                        may be less than one page in length

                        includes several critical observations of works or performances

                        includes a copy of the concert program

                        may include some errors in spelling, punctuation, or grammar

 

3-4                         is less than one page in length

                        is handwritten

                        contains several errors in spelling, punctuation, or grammar

                        makes few critical observations of works or performances

                        is little more than a list of events

                        includes a copy of the concert program

 

1-2                         makes no critical observations of works or performances
