Biogeographer

The Biogeographer will look at the distribution patterns of wild plants and animals and to the factors that determine these patterns. The discipline is important because administrators, politicians, policy-makers are looking more and more to scientists who study the Earth, its biomes and its organisms, to better manage the future to ensure its well-being.

The Biogeographer will

1 Identify the major biome of this nation.

2. What major plant/animal life is representative of this biome?

3. Describe the climate of your biome – average rainfall, and high and low temperatures.

4. Geography/geology of the region: rivers, lakes, oceans, mountain chains, natural resource deposits, etc.

The role of the biogeographer is to write a five paragraph paper describing the economy of their chosen country. Biogeographer will generate three focused research questions that enable you to answer the essential question: How does this nation use their major biome to support society?

Research steps:

      1. Identify topic
      2. Gather information
        1. Locating resources
        2. Scanning and evaluating resources
        3. Make decisions to narrow your topic
          1. To develop essential research questions
